Back to blogging!

After taking some time away from the blog and trying a couple different venues to show my art. I have decided to get back to the blog.
My main hobby for over 10 years was making teddy bears. I truly loved making them and enjoyed so much the responses I would receive from my collectors. But it seemed that the market was saturated with bear artists. They seemed to evolve away from what my style was. The website where I sold many of them grew so much that the competition was overwhelming. Many artists from other countries. Albeit that the bears were to die for. I felt like my bears were being pushed aside for the "next generation." I have tried to sneak in a bear from time to time but my collectors have moved on or the prices are not what I use to get for them. But that's cool, I understand life is about change.  I do see some of my old teddy bear friends from back then that are still making and selling them. I guess maybe I just gave up to easy... Who knows. The change then moved me on to trying different crafts.
I love to crochet. But since I had the accident with my arm, I find it that when I do something repetitive I have to do it in shifts. Give my arm a break for it tends to ache and become numb and tingly. I have so much yarn in my shop! I have boxes and dresser drawers overflowing. It's like opening the can with the snake when you open a drawer. Yarn pops up in your face ;)  I do have some items that I have crocheted that I plan on making available on this blog if anyone is interested.
Wire wrapped jewelry-another passion. The competiton is pretty fierce there too.
Then I discovered making pictures with torn scrapbook paper then painting it. I totally enjoyed doing this too. My daughter keeps telling me that I should make them again. I have some that I made that I can add to this blog too.
So as of late I have discovered pyrography-wood burning. I am still in the learning stages of this newest adventure but I find it most enjoyable.
Maybe some day I will get back into making the teddies. Who knows maybe sooner than later. I just know that there are many other crafts out there waiting for me to discover them. Hopefully I will find "the one" that  will stick with for a while.

Texas Flag Painting

This is a Texas flag painting I made for my husband.
It is painted in a rustic style.
James picked out this beautiful gold magestic looking frame for it.
I love the way it all came together ;)

Fun Nursery/Childs Wall Decor.

This last week I have been on a drawing spree!
So far I have 8 pictures that I sketched out on paper then digitally colored them.
What fun!
I love doing this. The design ideas just keep coming to me.
My plans for them are to make them available as prints and on cards.
Also, I am going to go a little further with them and amke wall hangings with them, pillows, dolls, bean bags and more!
Please check back here to my blog. For I plan on posting here often!

Here are a couple of my drawings.

Thinking of my Dad today...

video
My parents lived in Colorado. With me being here in Texas there were difficult times being away from my family. My Dad would sing this song to me on the phone, I think it was his way of trying to make me feel better :)

More Burlap Door Hangers!

I've completed a couple more burlap door hangers. They are available at my etsy store.

Lovin the Burlap Fabric!

There are so many different things you can do with burlap. I love working with it. My latest projects are burlap door hangers. Well they can be hung wherever you like, but door hangers are a good start!
I have one that I made with 3 different colors of burlap, the natural color, white and country blue.
I made a whimsical little owl. I don't know, he's pretty cute but kinda reminds me of a character from the show "South Park." teehee. Oh well, I thinks he's cute.
I have the owl and another door hanger I made with a painted bunny on it. Lately I have been drawn to the retro, paisley designs from the 1960's and 1970's. They are both available at my etsy store.
Along with some other items I have made. Here's the link to my store.

Colorful Handmade Wreaths

I had my hand slammed shut in a car door so it has been difficult for me to work on my bears or my jewelry. So, I have another hobby that I love doing during the time my hand is healing. I have made some door wreaths! This one pictured first is in our favorite colors. I know they are somewhat autumn in color, so I added some white and yellow dasies to make the wreath pop with color!
I have it available at my etsy shop.

New Etsy Shop!

I have opened a second shop on Etsy, it's called "Sugar Time Designs!" The inspiration for the name came from an old western group called "The Collins Kids" Be my little Honey, (Sugar Time). It's a Southern expression, "Give me some sugar," a kiss.
Anyway, It's a shop where I'm going to list my handmade wire wrapped jewelry and leather accessories. I really love making the jewelry. It seems to be an exciting artistic venture for me ;)

Here is the link to my etsy shop.

Homemade Chicken Tortilla Soup

This is the first time I've made this soup.
We were very pleased with the way it turned out!
I got the recipe from "The Pioneer Woman" website.
What awesome recipes she has!

Sauteed green and red peppers with onion in olive oil.
The colors are so pretty.

Baked strips of chicken breast seasoned and drizzled with olive oil.

Tear it in to bite size pieces and toss around in the oil and seasoning.

Dump into the chicken broth, rotel, sauteed veggies, tomato paste and more seasoning.

Add a very large can of black beans. Simmer for a couple hours.

Before serving, cut up some corn tortillas into strips and gently stir into soup.

Top with a dollop of sour cream and avocado!
Yumm!!
